NEWS OF THE WEEK:
Two Retired Ballers, One Chaotic House
As we continue to celebrate Black history month, I'm going to introduce a new series to the Bring the ruck website I had created a few years ago, inspired by black excellence called Aw'Shucks. Aw'SHucks is a lighthearted comic strip series about two retired basketball legends who find themselves unexpectedly sharing a house as mismatched roommates. Inspired by the chaotic chemistry of Shaq O’Neal and Charles Barkley,

the pair bicker, bond, and blunder their way through everyday life after basketball. One is laid‑back, playful, and larger-than-life; the other is stubborn, opinionated, and easily exasperated. Together, they form a modern Odd Couple—always clashing, always complaining, and always hilarious—yet somehow managing to bring out the best in each other.

VOICE OF AN OPEN SOUL
In celebration of Black History Month, we’re highlighting one of the most dynamic writers of our time—Duane Reeves, a proud member of the BTR family. Duane has lent his voice to several classic BTR: NPSE shorts and is an accomplished author, poet, father, and Army veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
With four published books and three more scheduled for release this year, his work blends domestic realism with speculative and folkloric elements. His upcoming title, American Duppy, is the first in a series that delves into transnational folklore, memory, and the hidden truths that shape family histories.
Duane is also the creator and owner of Open Soul DVOE CLOC, an emerging media house producing digital art, fiction, and poetry at a bold new level. Below are the covers of three of his published books—click on the image below to learn more or to purchase his work on Amazon click here.
